Privacy Policy
Introduction
Your privacy and awareness of data collection is important to us. EPA United strives to be transparent about how your data will be collected and used.
General Voter Privacy & Address Confidentiality Programs
Because voter registration forms and voter lists are government documents, they are often subject to public records laws, which means people, political parties, or sometimes even commercial entities can view them.
This is important to know because these forms contain our personal information, such as our home address!
Obviously it’s not safe for everyone to have their personal voting data (especially their home address) publicly available!
For this reason, Address Confidentiality Programs exist in many states.
To find info on Address Confidentiality Programs in your state, visit SurvivorsVote.org and check out their resources.
Here is a list of each state’s rules on what information about voters is publicly shared, as well as information on programs each state has to protect voter privacy.

Privacy While Using Rock The Vote’s “Civic Engagement Tools”
EPA United is partnering with Rock the Vote (RTV) to help people check their voter status, register to vote, request and absentee ballot, and pledge to vote.
When people use these “civic engagement tools”, their personal data shows up in a dashboard that RTV provides to EPA United.
Both EPA United and RTV can see this dashboard.
What data is collected depends on which civic engagement tool you use, and may include your name, address, phone number, or email.
EPA United will not share your personal data with third parties.
However, Rock the Vote may share your data with it’s third party partners (read privacy policy and how to opt-out) below.
Things to be aware of:
OPTING OUT OF THIRD PARTY DATA SHARING
Rock the Vote indicates it may share data with organizations aligned with it’s mission. You can indicate that you do not want your data shared by contacting RTV at info@rockthevote.org and saying you would like to “opt out” of third party data sharing.
RTV collects data that people submit through their voter engagement tools, which EPA United has made available here on our site.
RTV may collect your IP address or other information using cookies or other tracking technology. If this is a concern for you, using a VPN is a helpful way to prevent this type of data collection.
